Teaching touches on numerous personal and professional interests, including but not limited to working with youth, community building, collaboration, and educating via hands-on methodologies. I believe teaching is one of the most important professions that one can pursue, largely because it involves working with a community of people for its collective betterment.”

Joshua’s Story

Teaching Disciplines

Biology and Chemistry

Why Biology and Chemistry

“Science was always the most interesting subject for me throughout high school and college. In terms of teaching, I find that it also is a phenomenal discipline that’s ever-relevant and allows students to be taught to think creatively, understand failure as a path towards gaining knowledge, and learn in various styles suited to their interests.”

Professional Experience

Joshua previously worked as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens Pharmacy. The job involved detailing specific information regarding medication and insurance to customers. Precise attention to detail was necessary for stocking, counting, and packaging medication. In less than a year, he became a certified pharmacy technician, showing knowledge in the various processes and drugs concomitant to success in the field.

For three years, Joshua worked a science paraprofessional, which involved: working alongside teachers in classrooms to aid in student understanding and classroom management and running study halls specifically aimed towards helping failing students improve their grade.

Joshua will begin his second year of teaching at Niles North High School during the 2020–2021 school year.

Hobbies

Joshua enjoys writing music freelance for publications like Pitchfork, SPIN, and Billboard.
