This profession provides so many opportunities to have a positive impact on students and their future contributions to society. I hope that students leave my class feeling empowered to face the world through a scientific lens.”
Chris’ Story
Teaching Discipline
Chemistry
Why Chemistry
“Chemistry is the study of something we cannot see, which is both exhilarating and terrifying! Every day is an exciting challenge to help students explain a phenomena that, at first glance, might appear to be ‘magic.’ ”
Professional Experience
Chris began teaching chemistry and advisory at Hillsdale High School in 2014. Over the years, he has served as Department Chair, District Science Coordinator, and an Instructional Coach. He enjoys mentoring new teachers and has had several student teachers. Prior to joining the teaching profession, he was a Ph.D. candidate in the Stanford University Department of Chemistry, studying amphipathic molecular transporters for drug delivery into cells.
Hobbies
When not in the classroom, Chris enjoys reading, writing, jigsaw puzzles, somewhat-begrudgingly going on runs with his husband and anything neon.
